Deep Dive: Sharon Springs Central School District
We are very excited to be developing these items in partnership with the District Administration and our team of consultants for submission to the New York State Education Department later this year.
On May 17, 2022, the voters of Sharon Springs Central School District approved a Capital Improvements Project. One of the prime focuses of this project is a major roof replacement project. The existing ballasted roofs from the 1990’s will be replaced with new fully-adhered EPDM roofing systems that will provide greater energy efficiency, and weather protection for the foreseeable future. Additional items will include:
Expansion of the District’s OT/PT facility
Reconstruction of the District’s Soccer Field Facility
Asbestos Abatement of Elementary School Classrooms
Internal improvements to enhance circulation, safety, and personal dignity
We are very excited to be developing these items in partnership with the District Administration and our team of consultants for submission to the New York State Education Department later this year.
Teitsch-Kent-Fay Architects, P.C. is also assisting Sharon Springs Central School District with their American Rescue Program Project. This project will provide the District with new teaching spaces, such as a new Greenhouse adjacent to their existing Ag/Tech shop, and a new “outdoor classroom” adjacent to their playground facility. Additionally, the decades old heating and ventilating equipment in the District’s Elementary School will be replaced with new equipment with increased efficiency and capability. This project is currently under review at the New York State Education Department Office of Facilities Planning.
With all this wonderful news, it seems the perfect time to look back at our decades long relationship with the Sharon Springs Central School District. We began working with Sharon Springs back in 1998 when we were hired to assist in the re-design of their previously approved Capital Improvements Referendum. This work resulted in two major projects: the first was the Classroom and Gymnasium addition completed in 1999 and the second was the second story classroom and Auditorium addition, completed in 2001.
After the successful completion of these two projects, we assisted the District with a variety of projects of varying sizes and scopes. These range from simple $100K Capital Outlay Projects, to an Emergency Reconstruction project after a flood, to a variety of EXCEL and other improvement projects. Each of these projects has allowed us to assist the Board of Education and the District’s Administration to improve their facilities, and provide a fantastic, hands-on experience for their students as well as vital services for the greater Sharon Springs community.
We look forward to many more years working with this passionate, motivated community and being able, in our own small way, to help them reach their dreams and goals.
